Adventures of Stitch

by Louis, 4th grade

Not too long ago, there was a boy. He lived in Africa, in Malawi, in the capital Lilongwe. That boy was me. I went to a camp with my parents. It was a wild life camp. We were going there because it was one of the last times we would get to go there because we were leaving Africa. I am going to tell you my experience.

The camp was called Mvuu (Mvuu means hippo in Chichewa which is the language where we lived). Well, we were going on a safari drive and a few hours before we left, I found a tree frog. I asked the people that worked at the camp if it was dangerous? They said no, that it was harmless and they have a lot of them and they come out at night. I asked my mum if I could take it on the drive? She said no. Then I found a snapping gecko. My mum said I could not take that on the drive either. I love my buddies so I had to bring them.

Now I am going to tell you my plan to bring my two buddies on the drive.
They were beginning to get used to me. First of all, I asked my older brother to help me because I needed to get a little bag. Then I would sneak into the car with the bag and my buddies inside and when we were off, I will unzip the bag and hey presto! I got it heart was beating wildly!

So all was going well so far, just how I had planned. But when my mum saw what I was carrying my heart stopped. She asked what I was carrying? I snapped back: “Just a bag to carry litter in.” She looked at me in an odd way and said nothing back. Just then the bag ripped and two small heads poked out. It was my friends.

When my mum heard the noise in the back she turned around quickly. My snapping buddy had just bit me! She was astonished and came into the back with me and said: “You have to let them go.” But I refused to release them.  When we got back, I told my mum I was very sorry and I had to let them go. She said thank you and hugged me and then I gave my friends some food and that is the end.
